Velvet Inks: Skin, Leather, and Parchment
Velvet Inks Skin, Leather & Parchment
Six Satin Acrylic Inks for Natural Materials, Warm Neutrals & Organic Surfaces
Velvet Inks Skin, Leather & Parchment is a purpose-built palette designed for painting organic materials and natural surfaces—skin, leather, cloth, bone, parchment, wood, and aged materials. Rather than relying on flat browns or chalky flesh tones, this set provides a controlled range of warm neutrals and muted chromatic inks that layer cleanly and predictably.
Each ink is semi-transparent, highly concentrated, and finished with a smooth satin sheen—ideal for glazing, filtering, and subtle tonal shifts where realism matters.

Why This Set Works
Skin, leather, and parchment demand subtlety. These inks are formulated to mix cleanly and layer smoothly, allowing you to:
- Adjust warmth and saturation without chalkiness
- Build realistic shadows using transparent color, not black paint
- Create aged, worn, or weathered effects with minimal effort
- Maintain harmony across skin, cloth, and organic materials
The satin finish improves flow and blending while preserving chromatic depth—especially important when working with transparent layers.
Techniques & Applications
- Mixing & Blending: Combine with acrylic paints to enrich skin tones and organic colors while improving flow.
- Washes: Heavily dilute for controlled shading on skin, cloth, and textured surfaces.
- Filters & Slapchop: Apply transparent veils to shift temperature and unify tones.
- Glazing: Build subtle chromatic variation and realistic highlights.
- Lining & Accents: Use undiluted for deep creases, scars, seams, and material definition.
- Airbrush: Thin with water or acrylic thinner for soft gradients, skin modulation, and environmental aging.
Velvet Inks Skin, Leather & Parchment are designed for painters who care about realism, material separation, and controlled color temperature—without fighting their paint.
