Knight of Outremer, 1300
The initial push of the Crusades created diverse Christian kingdoms in the Middle East. By 1300 the Crusader presence was dwindling, yet knights — men of faith and fortune-seekers alike — continued to fight. This 75mm figure depicts a Knight of Outremer in early XIV-century transitional armour: chainmail giving way to hardened leather, metallic plates, and gambesons. The surcoat and shield can be decorated in countless heraldic schemes.
